Wherever the archive footage was screened, people consistently reacted strongly and personally to the footage of the funeral procession of the Cambrian Colliery disaster. It appeared to be like a 9/11 event; everyone who had been alive then could remember where they were and what they had been doing when they heard about it.
So one particular group, the Valleys Kids Penygraig Coffee morning, was targeted to see what stories would emerge.
Although all the stories derived from seeing the Cambrian funeral procession footage, the minds of the storytellers took their memories away from simply recalling that event.
As a result, two of the stories have no direct connection to the Cambrian disaster, but refer to other hardships associated with mining.
